Too much, too little. The battle is on when it comes to eating disorders. There are ample theories and books all with their own view on eating disorders; why one has it, how to change it, but central to all this is what the eating behaviour means for the sufferer of an eating disorder. Counselling aims to elucidate what one’s eating issue means. What skills may need to be developed to better manage an eating disorder, whether anorexia, bulimia or over-eating. We see eating disorders as multifactorial, an illness that sits within a family and cultural context and that emotional suffering that is the basis of the eating behaviours, not poor self-control. The process is about acceptance and change; at your pace, guided by your values and goals.
